Sourwood Tree Seeds

The sourwood is a pretty little ornamental tree that is perfect for smaller space gardens.  It can bloom after its 5th season.  Its slow growth rate is appealing, and it allows the wood to become strong, while staying manageable.   No serious pest or disease problems.  

Oxydendrum arboreum, Full Sun / Part Shade / Shade, Slightly acidic soil, Blooms June / July   Hardy zone 5-9. North American Native Understory Dappled Sun is best.   

Surface sow; spreading seeds thinly over the medium, gently tamp seed into the soil surface via misting.  Seeds need light to germinate so do not cover.  Use a clear plastic cover to maintain humidity will greatly enhance germination.
